Across India, only 14.2% of women facing domestic violence are able to seek help (NFHS-5, 2021). They are trapped by abuse and distant from peer-support & justice.
Your donation changes that.
Read about Dipti* to see how your support can turn a survivor's life around.
Dipti, Utthan’s para-legal volunteer, fights violence against women and young girls in Gujarat's villages, every day.
But to support a woman/young girl, Dipti needs to be her sharpest, most prepared self.
When she touches base with a survivor, Dipti delivers maximum impact by providing
Emotional Support: She listens to the woman’s story, acknowledges her pain, understands the situation and family’s role.
Family Counseling: Dipti then counsels the family members and abusive stakeholders, the root cause of this violence. She informs them of legal consequences and changing patriarchal and violent thinking patterns.
Legal Guidance: If counseling doesn’t work, Dipti, with her legal education and training, offers the survivor a legal way forward.
Empowered Next Step: Dipti helps the woman/girl reimagine her future, build her self-image, and overcome social pressures. She connects the survivor with peer-support, governmental schemes and financial independence. If the survivor wants to take legal action, Dipti provides her with a network of lawyers, police and other officials.

Every rupee ensures a PLV's digital, legal, and emotional skills are more effective and efficient - meaning she can undertake more cases, handle legal and emotional complexity, document and follow-up digitally.
Dipti shouldn’t drop short. Many depend on her.
You donate to reduce domestic violence, but your contribution has a boomerang effect. By funding this campaign, you empower PLVs like her to tackle the full spectrum of injustice:
When you fund a PLV's skilling, you fund the reduction of nine critical injustices.
